A group of international visitors from e.g. Japan, Portugal and Estonia visited us at the Rijkswaterstaat location 'Steunpunt Dordrecht'. The morning program was all about presenting them with the latest information about the realization and evaluation of the InterCor pilot with regard to the C-ITS services Road Works Warning and In-Vehicle Signage on the A16 testbed near Dordrecht. The demo location on this section of the A16 is a very complex part of the Dutch motorway network with many portals for traffic management, tunnels, viaducts and parallel lanes. This makes it a very suitable section for complex testing and acquiring knowledge about the working of the technology in cooperation with other European countries.
C-ITS services such as Road Works Warning, Collision Risk Warning and Traffic Jam Ahead are received in-car via a PKI based road infrastructure with harmonized, up to date international standards inplemented. After the presentations we took our guests for a demo drive on the A16 testbed, so they could experience the latest developments in Vehicle-to-Infrastructure and also Vehicle-to-Vehicle hybrid communication. In-car, by means of a complex mix of virtual scenarios and real live road works.
Our guests and our team enjoyed the vivid discussions that took place during the day. It was a really successful visit, our goal to provide our guests with insight into Smart Mobility Dutch Reality - and with that into safer, more efficient and cleaner traffic and transport - was more than achieved!
